Scott Cloutier, Ph.D.

I help people carrying extraordinary responsibility navigate life's important thresholds with greater clarity, courage, and alignment.

My work integrates decades of experience in systems thinking, human development, and transformational practice. As a certified integrative healing arts practitioner, applied shamanic counselor, hypnotherapist, researcher, educator, U.S. Navy veteran, and lifelong farmer, I have spent more than twenty years exploring what allows people, organizations, and living systems to flourish.

Together with my partner, AnnaMaria Quagliata, I co-founded Our Hearts Enter, a living system dedicated to awakening human potential. Through private partnerships, Threshold Sessions, education, and ceremonial work when appropriate, we help individuals return to themselves, reclaim their energy, and participate more fully in what life is asking them to become.

Our work brings together grounded wisdom, deep presence, and practical guidance to support lasting transformation from the inside out.

My Story

Before I understood systems through science, I learned them from the forests of New Hampshire.

As a child, I spent countless hours wandering beneath towering pines, building forts, tending animals, and finding refuge in the living world. Nature became my first teacher. It showed me that healing cannot be forced, that growth follows its own intelligence, and that life flourishes when the conditions are right.

Years later, I left those forests to serve six years in the U.S. Navy. Traveling the world expanded my perspective and exposed me to both the extraordinary beauty of our planet and the ways people become disconnected from themselves, one another, and the Earth.

When I returned home, I played college basketball planning to pursue it deeply. Instead, I fell in love with environmental science. That journey eventually led to three degrees, including a Ph.D. from Cornell University, and a career devoted to studying sustainability, happiness, and human flourishing. I spent years designing systems, conducting research, teaching university students, and searching for better ways to understand what allows both people and communities to thrive.

Yet something continued to call me. I could explain systems. I could measure wellbeing. But I knew there were dimensions of being human that could never be fully understood through data alone.

So I stepped beyond the traditional academic path and began exploring the inner landscape with the same curiosity I had once brought to engineering. I studied psychology, spirituality, behavior, ceremony, and consciousness, training in integrative healing arts, applied shamanic practice, depth hypnosis, permaculture, and natural building. Each discipline revealed another piece of the same truth.

Healthy systems create the conditions for life to flourish. That is true for forests. It is true for organizations. And it is true for people. Today, everything I have learned comes together through Our Hearts Enter.

I work with founders, executives, physicians, athletes, military leaders, parents, and others carrying extraordinary responsibility who find themselves standing at important thresholds in life. Together we slow down enough to see what has been hidden, recognize the patterns shaping their lives, and cultivate the clarity to move forward with integrity and purpose.

I don't believe transformation comes from fixing people. I believe it comes from creating the conditions where their deepest wisdom can emerge. That is the work. Helping people return to themselves so they can participate more fully in what life is asking them to become.
